Bella Jewel is a new author to me and I must say I loved her book. Quinn is a feisty firecracker who does everything she can to save the garage her mom and dad built. She not only cares about the garage, workers and old customers but the town cares for her. Since her mom died, the town has taken care of her and her dad. Her dad, unable to deal with death of his wife many years ago turned to alcohol as his new best friend. Quinn unfortunately must clean up her dad each night and put him to bed. This gets old night after night while trying to keep the garage afloat. The bank is ready to foreclose.
In swoops Tazen Watts, TV star and professional car builder. Quinn’s garage is just another opportunity to expand. Tazen doesn’t see the history, the family or the close relationships they have with the community. He soon learns that a very stubborn and determined Quinn is not walking away from her garage very easily. She puts up one hell of a fight. Does Tazen finally see why Quinn is so feisty, hard-headed and destined to save the garage?
The book was a fun read for me. I enjoyed the banter and interaction between the two main characters, Tazen and Quinn. I loved the sparks that went off when they challenged each other. I am glad Tazen realized the person Quinn was and saw her as more than another female fan. Their relationship was questionable at first but he proved himself worthy as the story went on. Tazen’s character development improves his standing with me the more I got to know him and the more he understood Quinn. I also appreciated the respect for family in the story. As embarrassing as her dad was Quinn thought, she had no idea how Tazen would react when she needed him most. Sometimes that’s a true test of character. Tazen passed with flying colors if you ask me.
The pace of the story is great, I had a hard time putting it down almost reading it completely before I went to bed. Bella Jewel’s wonderful writing left me thinking about the characters and the story direction when I wasn’t reading the book. I had no idea how this would play out but I am very pleased how Bella Jewel wrote the story. I wish there was a little more to the end, a little of Quinn’s story. I know, I am greedy to want more but it is just so good. I think I am going to check out another book by Bella Jewel. I can add another author to my “favorites” list.
