Rogan is a tough actor, fighter and former military secret ops fighter. He has many secrets from his past that make him the man he his. He has a brother, Kyle, who carries some baggage around causing him to be spiteful and angry with life. Katie also has secrets, more like skeletons, that will come back to haunt her.
Katie is a make-up artist working on the set of a movie Rogan is filming. Every morning, Katie must make him more beautiful than he already is. She feels the spark between them but is very cautious to allow her self to “feel” or want anything more. She is protective of herself, after all, her past has been very cruel to her. Rogan is determined to get to know her better and thank goodness he doesn’t give up. But are the many, many demons between them too much for them to deal with? Not to mention Rogan could be the next marked man in his special ops group. Who holds all the cards making Rogan be a puppet to his needs?
This story was very interesting, a fresh topic and conflict, one that I don’t come across often. The characters were developed well, leaving me to want to know more and more as I read. Surprised at the climax of the special ops conflict. I enjoyed the resolution though. I appreciated Rogan’s determination and felt empathy for Katie’s suffering. I definitely felt many emotions in this book as the story came to a climax with the fighting and special ops story lines. I like how the chapters alternate between characters, I enjoy hearing both perspectives in a story. Nicely written, one I would recommend to others. Rogan and Katie’s story is a wonderful heartbreaking tale of determination and perseverance.
