Melissa hesitated for an uncomfortable moment before she reached up to give him hug. He sucked in a breath of air, and stiffened at the contact, but didn’t return the sentiment.

Oh dear. She cocked her head back on her neck to peer up at him, waiting to see if she’d get anything from him.

Just when she’d decided to go into retreat mode and pretend the indifference hadn’t cut her to the bone, his dark gaze darted to her mouth. She licked her lips. Slowly. Twice. Not on purpose, it just happened. Honest.

A low growl sounded from somewhere in the room. She assumed it must be a dog; after all, this was a veterinary clinic. Though she felt a rumble within his chest, right under her hand that had somehow found its way to the area over his heart.

“Melissa, I…”

“What?” she whispered.

Jamie shook his head slowly. His face seemed to be getting closer to hers. The distance from his mouth to hers, that only moments ago appeared miles away, now seemed so negligible.

And then she felt it. The feather light pressure of his lips on hers. Was she imagining it? Would she blink and be back on the other side of the reception counter while he glared at her from across the open space?

Melissa risked a breath in and opened her mouth on a tiny gasp. He took the opportunity and slipped his tongue between her lips and dipped inside. A groan erupted between them. She felt a tug on her shoulder. Then her purse slipped down her arm and landed with a heavy thump on the floor next to her feet. She returned to touching him. She needed to feel the softness of his cotton shirt beneath her palm. Shouldn’t she be feeling the coarseness of the lab coat?

While this book was about a threesome and a ménage and BDSM, it was written so well that the focus is truly about two friends who happen to be partners at work. One is given a second chance at happiness. But that decision will effect his partner and best friend so a careful decision must be made, but not without the whole truth.

Jamie lives with the guilt of a mistake he made when he was younger. That mistake has carved who he has grown into and weighs heavily on his decisions in his current life. Daniel, his best friend, doesn’t know ALL Jamie’s secrets but knows that his partner and best friend is a really good, honest trustworthy guy. So when Jamie’s past appears before him, he needs to either deal with it and face the honest truth from that night or move on and let it go.

Melissa is visited by a few skeletons from her past throughout the story. Melissa wants to visit The Vault, the BDSM club her bosses own. She has a sense she would enjoy that but wants to explore it first. She’s never explored the lifestyle before and it interests her. Very, very much. She learned the hard way and almost lost her life. Now it’s time to be smart.

Melissa, a strong female character, must overcome so many hurdles to find happiness. Melissa finds friendship with Daniel and Jamie before anything can happen between them. She is protected by her faux brothers, Kade, Kyle and Gabe who found her at her lowest moment in her life. They help her get back on her feet and she instantly becomes family. So anyone who messes with Melissa messes with them. The three brothers own The Vault, a BDSM exclusive club, the one Melissa wants to explore. Thank goodness they look after and protect her.

This is my first Anne Lange book and I enjoyed it. I like books in this genre so it was a fun read for me. I enjoyed the friendship focus with the BDSM and ménage sprinkled in. The BDSM scenes were very descriptive with a visual of what was going on in the club. Nothing was distasteful, it was all written very well. The sex scenes were amazing, they just kept getting better and better. The storyline outside of the sex had me worried and upset, concerned and sad, happy and pleased all throughout the story. This was one of those books I didn’t want to put down, I kept turning page after page because I didn’t want to stop reading. Nor did I want the story to end but speaking of ending…what an ending it was. It might have been the best scene. (Don’t skip ahead just to read it, you will be spoiled.) My only negative thought was That there was too much inner dialogue between character discussions. Too much background knowledge was given that I found myself skimming to get back to the conversation. Most of the stuff was pertinent to the story, so it couldn’t be taken out but it just seemed like there was a lot of time between lines of conversation. But I stil enjoyed the book!

Shoes are my addiction, but books are my passion. I grew up with a love for reading. I read constantly. Probably too much some days. I read many genres of romance, but prefer to write sexy stories. I try to add some humor, and certainly my stories come with a side of those sinful pleasures your mom never told you about. Oh, and always a happily ever after.

I juggle a full time job and a family. Not always successfully. Clean house? Who needs one? And what’s wrong with cereal for dinner? I live in Ontario, Canada with my wonderfully supportive husband, three awesome kids who are growing up way too fast, and Rocky the bearded dragon.

Plenty of ideas are rolling around in my head all the time. So I can’t wait to write that next story.
