Best Selling Author Kindle Alexander is an innovative writer, and a genre-crosser who writes classic fantasy, romance, suspense, and erotica in both the male/male and male/female genres. It’s always a surprise to see what’s coming next!

I live in the suburbs of Dallas where it’s true, the only thing bigger than an over active imagination, may be women’s hair!
Usually, I try for funny. Humor is a major part of my life – I love to laugh, and it seems to be the thing I do in most situations – regardless of the situation, but jokes are a tricky deal… I don’t want to offend anyone and jokes tend to offend. So instead I’m going to tell you about Kindle.

I tragically lost my sixteen year old daughter to a drunk driver. She had just been at home, it was early in the night and I heard the accident happen. I’ll never forget that moment. The sirens were immediate and something inside me just knew. I left my house, drove straight to the accident on nothing more than instinct. I got to be there when my little girl died – weirdly, I consider that a true gift from above. She didn’t have to be alone.

That time in my life was terrible. It’s everything you think it would be times about a billion. I love that kid. I loved being her mother and I loved watching her grow into this incredibly beautiful person, both inside and out. She was such a gift to me. To have it all ripped away so suddenly broke me.

Her name was Kindle. Honest to goodness – it was her name and she died a few weeks before Amazon released their brand new Kindle ereader. She had no idea it was coming out and she would have finally gotten her name on something! Try finding a ruler with the name Kindle on it.. It never happened.

Through the course of that crippling event I was lucky enough to begin to write with a dear friend in the fan fiction world of Facebook. She got me through those dark days with her unwavering support and friendship. There wasn’t a time she wasn’t there for me. Sometimes together and sometimes by myself, we built a world where Kindle lives and stands for peace, love and harmony. It’s its own kind of support group. I know without question I wouldn’t be here today without her.

Book Blurb:

“It’s a good thing I never lose.” He turned away, with astute arrogance which couldn’t be faked. It took years of Upper East Side inbreeding to obtain the level of innate sophistication, above even the level of wealth James had been raised with.
“Maybe this will be the first time,” even as James said the words he wanted to swallow them back.
“I don’t think so.” Charles’s voice was almost sing-songy.
“Cocky dick,” James muttered under his breath, not loud enough for Charles to hear him, or so he thought.
“I think you need a little bit of this dick.” He kept getting further away, and James felt like he was losing him.
“Come back here.”
“Well since you asked so nicely.” He flashed him a wink and stalked in close, like the last twenty minutes hadn’t happened. He lifted a hand and placed it at the base of James’ neck.
“Not here.” James glanced around. No one was looking, but they were still so exposed, which seemed an absurd idea considering where they were, but he couldn’t bring himself to do it—yet.
Yet? Where had that idea come from? James was reeling. He’d never even given in to the temptation of fucking a man, and now he was considering submitting to one in public. He must have lost his damn mind.
Charles fisted a hand in his shirt. “Tell me where?”
The look in his eyes made his knees weak. “Who’s the dominant here?”
Charles tightened his grip on James’ throat. The pressure wasn’t suffocating, but arousing, owning—possessive even. He’d never felt so turned on in his life. The next morning he’d expect to find bruises.
“I want you, and I’m going to have you.” Charles’ voice had dropped so low, James could barely hear it.

#Review Good Boy by @SarinaBowen and @ElleKennedy #BookRelease #WAG

If you loved Jamie Channing and Ryan Wesley in Him and Us, then come meet Blake Riley in Good Boy.

MEET THE WAGS!

bannermeetwags (1)

GOOD BOY (WAGS #1)

Hosting her brother’s wedding for an MVP guest list is the challenge of Jess Canning’s life. Already the family screw-up, she can’t afford to fail. And nobody (nobody!) can learn of the colossal mistake she made with the best man during a weak moment last spring. It was wrong, and there will not be a repeat. Absolutely not. Even if he is the sexiest thing on two legs.

Blake Riley sees the wedding as fate’s gift to him. Jess is the maid of honor and he’s the best man? Let the games begin. So what if he’s facing a little (fine, a lot) of resistance? He just needs to convince the stubborn blonde that he’s really a good boy with a bad rap. Luckily, every professional hockey player knows that you’ve got to make an effort if you want to score.

But Jess has more pressing issues to deal with than sexy-times with a giant man-child. Such as: Will the ceremony start on time, even though someone got grandma drunk? Does glitter ever belong at a wedding? And is it wrong to murder the best man?

Warning: Do not read while sipping hot liquids. Or cold ones. Or while sitting anywhere laughter would be inappropriate. Contains hot but hilarious hockey players, puppies and a snarky pair of underwear.

My Review of Good Boy

I didn’t know Blake had it in him. When we last saw Blake, he was the obnoxious team mate of Wes’ and living right upstairs from Jamie and Wes, he was almost the third roommate. He even got on MY nerves. So I was a little hesitant to read his story but coming from Sarina  Bowen and Elle Kennedy, I knew it had to be good and I was SO right.

I love that another book about Wes and Jamie was written, but even more pleased that Blake starred in this one. I can say that now AFTER I read it.

In Us, I wasn’t sure if I could trust Blake. He was a big doof ball who was always getting in the way. Even Jesse cals him out on it, he’s loud, mouthy and too cheerful at times. (As if that’s a bad thing?) But in the end, he truly cared about Wes and Jamie. In this book, he meets up with Jesse, one of Jamie’s older sisters, at the wedding of Jamie and Wes. Even though they had a one time fling, Blake still has the hots for her and as hard as she resists Blake, his crazy charm wears off. Eventually.

I love seeing the true Blake. While he’s big, clumsy and obnoxious at times, he truly cares for his friends and family. He would do anything for them and he goes to great lengths to protect his family too, even at his own expense. The REAL Blake is a GOOD guy. He is sweet and confident. I love his conversations earlier in the book. He knows Jesse will come around. His way of thinking is comical. I found myself laughing when his point of view (POV) was shared.

Jesse is a mess when this book starts. She needs a do over. She needs a new career. Currently, she is in the Wedding Planning business and she hates it, even though she is good at it. She enlists the help of her friend Dyson, yes, like the vacuum, who seems to be her sounding board and her pick me up when she is down. The best kind of friend to have. He helps her figure out what she wants to do, but it costs money, something she doesn’t have. When she finally decides on her next career path it forces her to cross paths with Blake, Jamie and Wes again. While Jamie and Wes take their sister under their wing Blake is ready to give her the world. But Jesse must be on the same page with Blake before she does. Two things stand in the way though, Jesse is NOT good at relationships and her main focus is her new career choice.

These two characters are written so well. Crazy, funny and never serious, Blake’s lines are perfect for his character. And I mean perfect. His mannerisms and actions, his attitude about life are all so perfect for his character. He worries about what’s important, takes care of his family, has good values and just has fun. Period. Jesse has a lot of confidence issues and again, she’s very well written too. She needs little things to boost her confidence as she second guesses herself after every stepping stone in her new career path. She has a very important conversation that changes things for her, makes her feel much better and that opens the doors for her in many ways. Yet they balance each other somehow. Like in the hospital visit to see Leila.

I’m happy to read about the hockey team again. Happy to have more Jamie and Wes and see their interactions and learn about a new dimension to the team. This story line was very well thought out and thoroughly researched giving credibility to the story. My opinion of Blake has changed. He is crazy hot and fun and perfect for Jesse.

Title: Clouded Hell
Author: JR Gray
Genre: M/M Romance
 Release Date: March 23, 2016
Blurb

I survive on avoidance. Physical pain to avoid the mental. Disposable flesh to avoid relationships. Work to avoid attachment. My club became my empire of avoidance. Inside the ring millions are won and lost. The fight is confined to breaths, actions and reactions, fists and pain. Rules don’t exist. Only my opponent exists.

I’d been avoiding my needs for far too long when Remi stumbles into the Inferno and I’m hungry. The promise of a submissive with no attachment is far too tempting. I can’t resist him.

He was only supposed to be a distraction, but I know I’ll never get over him. There isn’t a chance in this clouded hell.

 Green my reveiw
When book characters live in your head and you are NOT the author…then you know it’s a good book. Remi and Dante have lived with me for the last week and all I could think about was what happens next? Worried, couldn’t shake the feeling of danger, concern and excitement. It was all there this week as I read this book.

JR Grey writes an amazing story about two men, each with their own troubled past. Trying to find happiness, they struggle with trying to make themselves happy while pleasing everyone else. Does it work? Well… Dante and Remi have a lot to learn before they can find happiness but each step in the process brings another challenge or lesson for them. This is where the story gets really good. Just when you think they have figured it out, another twist and turn around the corner and bam, they are back to the drawing board. Emotional roller coaster one would say.

I love how JR Grey writes. The reader is always surprised and left to wonder what’s next even if you think it’s going to go one way. I came to love Remi and Dante, felt sorry for them, care about them and wanted to smack the heck out of Dante sometimes. Even the minor characters in the story are important to the ending. Liv and Josh play an important role in the outcome of the puzzle the author created.

JR Grey has written another fabulous book with amazing scenes between the characters in the playroom. The passion between the characters is obvious and can be felt through the book, as if the reader was in the room with them. Amazing scenes. I can’t wait for another book by this author. What a talent!

Excerpt

If I hadn’t seen the video of the fight, I wouldn’t have believed it. I clicked the button on my laptop to rewind it, to see the way his body moved. I gripped myself through my shorts and glanced over at Kai. He was busy inking a full back piece, and I doubted he’d even take a break for another hour. He couldn’t see me from where I sat. It would be so easy.I trailed my fingers over the places Dante had left marks. I could almost taste them, even if the bruises had faded. I’d looked at them in the mirror over my bed and fucked my hand every night since I’d left. I groaned as I slipped my hand into my shorts.

I squeezed my shaft, digging my nails into the sensitive skin. I had to bite back a hiss of pain. Kai could easily walk out and see me. The rooms in the shop were three-quarter walls to divide the space with wide open doorways. Maybe I wanted to be caught. I kicked my feet out, watching a bead of sweat drip down Dante’s neck. When he threw a punch his muscles tightened, and it took me back to him swinging his belt. The sound of his fist hitting flesh was close, so close, to the way the leather sounded against mine.

I shouldn’t be imagining him touching me, but it was impossible not to. I wanted his hands on me. I wanted him to mark me with them. I was hit with the sudden realization he’d been acting when he was in the ring with me. He hadn’t even gone at half speed. He was a monster when he fought. It took every ounce of self-control I had to keep from getting up and into my Jeep to drive to the airport.

I used my free hand to unbutton my shorts and slide down my zipper, freeing my cock.

Chapter One

Four hundred sweaty bodies packed into this room, and you could’ve heard a pin drop. My boots clicked on the concrete floor. It could have been a scene right out of a movie, the way the two shirtless guys circled each other, faces torn up and bleeding, hands in front of their faces, with scraps of wrapping covering swollen and bruised knuckles. I could smell the aggression.

It smelled like money.

I’d been gambling on anything and everything since I’d been given the run of the neighborhood at six. I’d grown up in Vegas, but it wasn’t silly cards I was interested in. I loved contests, where real skill was involved. I craved the tension a match brought to a room full of people. I could feed off the energy.

I watched the two thick men trade punches. One was a fair amount bigger than the other, muscled through his arms down to his massive hands. He brought a knee up just in time to block a quick kick from his opponent who I presumed to be the owner of the dive bar I stood in.

I’d had him described to me, dark hair, six feet four, and piercing blue eyes, but those details could have matched half the room. The harsh fake light defined the high arch of his cheekbones even under all the blood. I’d done my research, but there were no pictures of the guy. What told me it was Dante was the swath of planets tattooed across his left shoulder. It dripped down the back of his arm like a tragic afterthought. Everyone knew the tattoo. It was talked about, though no one knew what it symbolized. I studied anyone I planned to use. Information was gold in this business.

He was beautifully deadly, just my type. I’d been looking for him for a long time.

I took the long way around to the gambling window, keeping my eyes on the fight. Dante was quick, but I’d be surprised if he pulled off the win. It was well-known heavyweights tore up lighter guys for a reason. They could hit a lot harder and destroy even faster men. The line, at the window, had thinned when the fight got going, and I only had to wait a few moments to buy a ticket. The odds were in the opponent’s favor, so I put money on Dante.

I slipped into one of the rows and took a seat on the bleachers, kicking my feet out in front of me. It had been a long day, and my body was feeling it. I was almost thirty, and struggling with control was taxing.

Dante dodged a fist coming at his head and hit the other guy three times in the span of seconds. The crowd roared, surging like a massive organism with one mind. He didn’t pull back to avoid getting hit. He pushed the guy back with punch after punch, giving his opponent plenty of opportunity to hit him back. It was a—unique strategy. Ballsy even. Most boxers tried to avoid getting hit, unless they were masochists.

His opponent landed a right hook to Dante’s jaw causing him to stumble back a few paces. The guy charged Dante. My heart skipped a beat. I thought Dante was done for, but he regained his stance and fought off the attack.

“Fuck.” I sat forward, resting my elbows on my knees. The heat and tension in the room pressed in around me, collectively choking off all the oxygen.

Dante snarled, baring bloody teeth, and my cock twitched. I adjusted, eyes never leaving his sweat-soaked skin. All his muscle was on full display, the V of his hips cutting right down into his low-slung shorts. I wanted to be the one opposite him in the ring. I wanted him to hit me.

Dante’s body shuddered right before he attacked. He slammed his fist into the guy’s temple, and the big bloke went down hard, shaking the floor when he landed. It didn’t even need to be called. It was clear he was out cold.

Dante raised both hands in the air and growled. But he didn’t stay to celebrate. He ducked out of the ring and went right to a commanding woman who had legs a mile long that disappeared under a skirt that hugged her ass. She held a drink out to him, and I waited. Girlfriend? He was bisexual, or so I’d been told.

She didn’t touch him as they exchanged a few words. He turned and walked toward the employee door, and she followed. They disappeared, and as the crowd moved around me, getting more drinks, leaving, and cashing in tickets, I sat.

Now that I’d seen the operation, I was sure. I could be me here. If I played it right, I could steal away and hide, even if only for a short time. But he’d never know I’d been here already. It would give me the upper hand.

I could taste the freedom already.

Honor, integrity, and loyalty are how Deputy US Marshall Kreed Sinacola lives his life. A former SEAL now employed by the Special Operations Group of the US Marshal Service, Kreed spent most of his life working covert operations and avoiding relationships. Never one to mix business with pleasure, his boundaries blur and his convictions are put to the test when he finally comes face-to-face with the hot computer geek he’s been partnered with. Hell-bent on closing the ongoing case for his longtime friend, he pushes past his own limits and uncovers more than he expects.

Aaron Stuart strives for one thing: justice. Young and full of idealism, his highly sought after computer skills land him a position with the National Security Agency. Aaron’s biggest hazard at his job is cramped fingers, but all that changes when he is drawn into the middle of a dangerous federal investigation. Aaron gets more than he bargained for when the FBI partners him with a handsome and tempting deputy US marshal. His attraction to the inked up, dark-haired man provides another kind of threat altogether. Aaron tries desperately to place a firewall around his heart and fight his developing feelings, knowing one misstep on his part could ultimately destroy him.

The solution isn’t as easy as solving the case, which is treacherous enough as it is. But the growing sexual attraction between them threatens to derail more than just Kreed’s personal convictions as he quickly learns temptation and matters of the heart rarely fit easily into the rules he’s lived by. Will Kreed be able to convince Aaron to open his heart and face the fact that sometimes the answers aren’t always hidden in code?

review
Another five star book written by Kindle Alexander.
5 star ratng

Honestly speaking, it took me a little time to get into this book, only because…don’t stop reading, stay with me… Kindle writes some of the hottest M/M sex scenes I have ever read and I couldn’t wait to get to her first scene. I was impatient. I will be honest. I wanted to skim but the story grabbed my attention. Pulled me in. Hook line and sinker.
But the build up was WELL worth the wait. Seriously! (Phew)

“Full Domain” is the third book in the “A Nice Guys Novel” series. You can certainly read it as a stand alone but if you are like me, you will want to go back and learn more about the main characters in the other books who are also in this one like Colt and Jace (Double Full) and Mitch and Cody (Full Disclosure). I want to know their full stories to complete the series. But you can certainly read “Full Domain” as a stand alone.

I don’t want to give this the “well written” stamp because this story is more than that. The main story line has so many tangled webs to it (that will get worked out, don’t worry) and it holds your attention if you like suspense in your novels. Aaron, a computer geek, who works for the NSA, is called in to help with a case the US Marshall’s are working on. He is paired with Kreed, a very tough, hard ass, very seasoned US Marshall whose partner, Knox, is out on leave. The two must work together to try and help the US government solve a case that actually becomes deeper and more dangerous than first expected. Aaron is green when it comes to this type of work and he becomes Daniel thrown into the Lion’s Den in this case.

I was impressed with the intricate details in the story, always another surprise around the corner, never knowing who to trust or who would turn against them. I actually got scared when Kreed did as the whole ordeal was going down. I was yelling at Aaron to check his phone. But secretly glad he didn’t.

The mystery surrounding Aaron and his past blew me away when it all fell into place. Not what I was expecting, close, but not that. Cleverly written. I am honestly glad the occupations of the two men did not interfere with the future either. The problems facing the four men in the end were tied up nicely and in a very clever way.

This is my second Kindle Alexander novel and I am just as impressed, if not more with this one. Her writing style is easy to read, the sex scenes are hot, passionate and detailed and the characters are easy to relate to and you can actually feel their desires and disappointments. You sometimes want to get into their heads too and have a little conversation with them. Well written book and I look forward to learning about the other characters in the first two books in this series.

From the book:
“He (Aaron) sure didn’t want Kreed digging too deeply into his gaming activities.”

Nope, he sure didn’t. This was the precursor to the mystery surrounding Aaron.

I love this line from the book:
“Sin… Tempting, illicit, seductive. It fit the man so well.”

This. This is SO Kreed. Best line in the book. Right there. Mr. Hard Ass Military Man.

“You’re so fucking sexy with those fuck-me-I’m-so-smart glasses on and that intense look on your face.”
Aaron glanced up and narrowed his eyes as he shoved the glasses off to the top of his head and stretched out his back. There was just something about the big, gorgeous deputy marshal growling those words at him that made his dick want to come out and play. A tired yawn from hours of sitting behind his laptop slipped free as he rubbed his eyes.
“And those noises you make are a complete turn-on.”

“I have a feeling it doesn’t take much to turn you on. A slight gust of wind would probably have you at full mast,” Aaron teased, lowering the lid to his laptop.

Best Selling Author Kindle Alexander is an innovative writer, and a genre-crosser who writes classic fantasy, romance, suspense, and erotica in both the male/male and male/female genres. It’s always a surprise to see what’s coming next!

Quinn’s lips were back on mine before I could even process what he said.

He wants this. He wants me. He wants everything.

I whimpered. Not a small, throaty whimper. This one came from deep inside me. I wasn’t even sure it was from my body. My entire being needed to be with him in this moment. And not on the couch.

Pulling away took monumental effort, but I managed, keeping my hand on his neck, unable to stop touching him. “My room?”

Words were apparently no more at the ready for him than they were for me. He simply stood and hauled me up with him. I don’t remember ever crossing the apartment that urgently. He followed close behind, and as soon as we were safely inside my room, he closed my door and pushed me up against it. His breath came in warm, rapid puffs, his body inches from mine, hands on my shoulders, smoothing up to my neck, as if he wanted to make sure I was really there. I wasn’t going anywhere. And as far as I was concerned, he could touch me any way and anywhere he wanted.

He stepped closer, closing the gap between us until only a breath of air separated us. I shivered with need, not wanting to do anything to scare him off but wanting as much of us touching as possible. I craved the connection, the heat, the friction—everything I knew was within our reach if he’d let it happen.

His strong fingers eased up my neck, leaving my skin tingling in their wake. He cupped my face, stroking his thumbs against my cheeks. The room was so quiet, I could hear the brush of my stubble against his skin. Killing me. Fucking killing me. “Kiss me.”

It came out like a plea, and Quinn’s lips twitched into a smile as he tortured me one last second before giving in.

#BlogTour ~ The Making of Matt by Nicola Haken ~ @NicolaHaken @EJBookPromos #Giveaway #Rafflecopter

Title: The Making of Matt
Series: Souls of the Knight
Author: Nicola Haken
Genre: M/M Romance
Release Date: October 19, 2015
Matt Carter, self-proclaimed sex-god and drummer for world renowned Souls of the Knight, didn’t have the time or inclination for planning his future, preferring to fill his days with music, women and alcohol. He didn’t want or need anything else in his life.
Until the band parted ways and he found himself no longer living the dream.
Bored and lonely, with too much time and money on his hands, Matt turns to his best friend, Alex Clark, to help devise a new direction to take his life in. Together, they embrace their newfound venture, as owner and manager of one of L.A.’s hottest gay clubs – Kaleidoscope. For the first time, Matt has a plan. He knows where life is heading.
Until a devastating phone call turns his whole world upside down, sending him straight into the comforting arms of his best friend and leading him to doubt everything he’s ever known or believed about himself.
Alex had always been content with his unrequited feelings for his rockstar friend, but as Matt starts to question if he might actually feel the same, he runs as fast as his feet will allow.
Has Matt gone too far? Has his reputation as an irresponsible womanizer who refuses to take life seriously, finally managed to push his best friend away for good?
Or is Alex hiding secrets of his own?

“Matt, are you telling me you think you’re in love with Alex?”

“No! Yeah…fuck I don’t know. I can’t be, right?”

“If you’d asked me an hour ago I’d have said ‘don’t be so fucking ridiculous’, but after listening to you, fuck I really don’t know. Answer me this, you said he touched your dick and you freaked. Why, if you kissed him first?”

“Because I almost came right there in my fucking sweatpants and it scared the shit outta me. It made me question everything I’ve ever known. I mean come on, you can’t just turn gay, right?”

Just saying it out loud sounded fucking ludicrous.

“You’ve lived an extraordinary life, Matt. Maybe it’s something that’s always been there but never had an opportunity to come out.”

“I’ve met plenty of guys, Saw. Never once have I been attracted to a single one of ‘em.”

“Have you ever had your dick out of a woman long enough to actually get to know a guy before though?”

“Touché.” I laughed, not just at Sawyer’s comment but at the whole situation I found myself in. “This is all Jake’s fault, you know.”

“And how the hell do you figure that?”

“Because everything was fine before he came on the scene. We were happy living for the music and women, and then he shows up with all his fucking gayness and passes it on to you. Then, like the pair of you were some kind of butt bandit magnets, Ryder comes along. Then like the gift that keeps on giving the gayitis spreads and suddenly life is all gay porn, gay clubs and gay fucking underwear. It’s gayness overload, dude! I’m fucking telling you that shit is contagious.”

Sawyer snickered, rolling his eyes at the same time. “Is there such a thing as gay underwear?”

“According to Ryder,” I said, shrugging before undoing the button on my jeans to expose the branded hem of my underwear. Sawyer raised his eyebrow, one side of his mouth curling up into a smirk. “They’re comfortable,” I said, feeling the need to defend my favorite pair of shorts. “What the fuck am I gonna do?”
Nicola lives in Rochdale, England with her husband and four children (six if you include the dog and cat!) She is the author the author of the m/m romance Souls of the Knight series, and is currently working on a standalone with new boys, James and Theo, due for release early 2016. When she is not busy playing with her imaginary book friends (or talking about them with real life friends!) she can usually be found carrying out her ordinary mum/housewife/all round slave duties. Oh, and if the kids ever ask, she moonlights as the Pink Power Ranger while they’re sleeping…

#ReleaseTour ~ Choosing Us by Aria Grace ~ @ariagracebooks @ejbookpromos #Rafflecopter #Giveaway

Title: Choosing Us
Series: More Than Friend #10
Author: Aria Grace
Genre: M/M Romance (Menage)
Published: October 10, 2015
Adam is almost done with culinary school when Lee, his instructor, kicks him out of school, his apartment and his life. Adam quickly becomes a member of the working poverty, living on the streets, and just trying to survive. With nothing positive to look forward to, Adam resorts to the only way he knows how to escape from his life.
Joey finds Adam sick and alone in Waterfront Park one night and takes him home. Steve and Joey want to help but Adam may not be ready to accept it or them. It’ll all come down whether the three men are better off together or apart.

Joey

The energy at The Pot has been weird all day. People seem antsy. Anxious. I don’t know if it’s the non-stop rain, but something just feels wrong.

“I’m heading out with Bryce to look for Kurt.” Kim is pulling her jacket off the coat rack by the door. “You gonna stay much longer?”

I pull the chewed up pencil out of my mouth and look at her. “Um, no. I’ll probably head out soon too.”

“Okay, just be careful driving home. It’s practically a typhoon out there.”

I shiver just thinking about being stuck outside. “Where are you guys looking?”

“We’re going to drive through Kelly Butte Natural Preserve to see if anyone has seen him out there. Then we’ll swing by Waterfront. He stays at both places so hopefully we’ll find him.”

“What are you going to do if you find him?” On particularly wet nights, The Pot fills up quickly. We try not to ever turn anyone away but once the beds are full and the floors are all littered with bodies in sleeping bags, it’s hard to justify going to find someone just to bring them back.

“We just want to make sure he’s fine. He’s usually here every few days so people are getting worried. There’s been some bad black going around. I’ll feel better if I know he’s alive.”

I nod then blurt out my next words without thinking. “I’ll go to Waterfront. It’s on my way home anyway. Call me if you find him before I do.”

“Will do. Have a good night, Joey.”

“Yeah.” I shut down the computer I was using to pay some bills then stand to leave as well. “You too.”

~**~

Looking for someone on a dark and stormy night is even harder than it sounds. I can’t see my hand in front of my face without my flashlight blazing. And because I don’t want anyone to think I’m a cop, I keep the light mostly shielded. Only a dim beam illuminates the pathway in front of me.

There are a few corners where junkies are known to party, so that’s where I start. Under a thick copse of trees, four people huddle together under a tarp. Keeping my voice friendly and my light low, I call out toward the group, “Is Kurt with you?”

No response so I take a few steps closer. One guy jumps up while the others fumble around behind him.

“Who the hell are you?”

“Hey, it’s cool, man. I’m not a cop.” I turn the light toward myself so they can see my plain clothes. “Just looking for a friend. Do you know a guy named Kurt?”

A girl turns on a headlight, almost blinding me with the beam before she clicks it into red mode. “I know Kurt. What do you need from him?”

“I don’t need anything.” I slowly turn the light toward her face so I can see her without shining it directly in her eyes. “Just checking to see if he’s okay. I’ve been trying to reach him for a few days.”

She shakes her head then looks at the half-conscious guys next to her. “Nah, it’s been a while but he was fine the last time I saw him.”

That’s helpful. Not.

“Well, if you see him, can you tell him to go see Joey?”

No one even looks up as I turn and head out. There’s a person on a bench near the water so I walk quickly toward them. A street light casts just enough light over the person that I can tell it’s a man, about the size of Kurt.

“Kurt?” I call out when I’m about ten feet from the man. His feet are up against his ass and his head is tucked into his bent knees. If he didn’t startle at my voice, I would have been afraid he was dead.

“What?” The man turns his head and coughs twice into his knees.

The familiar voice makes my blood run cold. Please let this be Kurt.

“Is that you, Kurt?”

“No Kurt here.”

The man buries his face into his bent knees again and coughs violently, causing me to take a few steps closer.

“Adam?” I whisper as I raise my light across his curled up body. “Is that you?”

Adam’s legs hit the ground and he stands at attention like a solider at boot camp. “Joey? Hey, how’s it going?”

He’s trying to sound casual but it’s clearly an act. He’s nervous and jittery.

“What are you doing here, Adam?” I look around to see if he’s with anyone but he’s totally alone. “It’s freezing.”

“I’m fine.” He runs his palm across his face, wiping off the water collecting there. “I like the peace of being alone out here.”

“Can I give you a ride home?” I don’t know where he’s living but he shouldn’t be walking anywhere in this weather.

“Oh, no.” He clears his throat and puts his hands in his pockets. “I’m cool, but thanks.”

I move the beam of light directly over his face until he has to squint to keep from being blinded. “No, you’re not cool. You need to get out of this rain. That cough sounds bad. Where do you live?”

Adam’s head drops and his chin lands on his center of his collar bone. “I’m fine, Joey. Really.”

His words are whispered but the anguish in his voice is unmistakable. I step right up to him and wrap my arms around his shoulders. “What’s going on, Adam? Why are you out here?”

Adam’s shoulders rise and fall until I feel his arms slowly close around my waist. He completely ignores my question while breathing into my neck. “It’s so good to see you.”

My hold on him tightens. “Why don’t you come back to my place so we can talk?”

His head bobs up and down, but Adam doesn’t say a word. After another moment, I release one arm from around his shoulders then start walking back to my car with him pressed tightly to my side.

Steve

Rain is falling in sheets as I drive the short distance home. I closed up at eight forty because the mall was dead. I normally would have waited it out but I was anxious to get home to my little duck.

Relief fills me when I see Joey’s white Ford Escape tucked away for the night in the garage. I park next to him and practically jog inside, anxious to get out of my damp clothes from the walk through the mall parking lot.

“Baby, I’m home,” I call out as soon as I step into the kitchen.

“We’re in the family room.”

I pause for just a second. Did he say we?

I inhale deeply then walk into the family room. Joey is sitting in the center of the sofa, his body turned toward the guy beside him.

My stomach churns as I take in the scene. This guy doesn’t look familiar but I trust Joey implicitly. I know whatever reason he has for inviting a stranger into our home, particularly when I’m not around, must be a good one.

I round the sofa and stand on the other side of the coffee table, facing Joey and hopefully the guy he was looking for. But it’s not Kurt. It’s Adam. The guy from the wedding.

#PromoTour ~ Only If: Days Before You Came by R. Paone ~ @EJBookPromo #Giveaway

Title: Only If: Days Before You Came
Series: Only If Series
Author: R. Paone
Genre: M/M Contemporary Romance
Release Date: September 14, 2015
“Days Before You Came: An “Only If” prequel novella.

Robert had weeks to prepare for the next big step in his life. That was graduate school and there was plenty to worry about. Before love, there was school. Before having time, there was no free minute to think.
Before Mitch, he didn’t find love.
Before there was “Love is Found,” there was “Days Before You Came.”
This is the starting line. “
“Are you sleeping?”

My eyes cracked open. I was still lying in the bed of grass. I am glad my dream was a true account of what happened the night before. I sat up and smiled as Mitch was standing over me with a grocery bag of food he picked up from the market. He was looking at me with such intent and determination. We were headed to the local art museum downtown but stopped by the adjacent park to have some lunch. I looked at my cell phone, I must have fell asleep for about five minutes. A good dream, nonetheless. It’ll happen again, I know it.

He emptied the contents of the bag onto the a bath towel we grabbed from his apartment and turned his gaze to me before even opening the container of hummus and bottle of water.

“I have something I have to tell you.”

I held my breath and waited… “

R.Paone started on this writing journey in June, 2014. From events that were beyond his control, he decided to start this new path in his life before my 30th birthday. It has been quite the journey mapping out this story arc. He has learned so much writing a novel in that it has been therapeutic and also eye opening as it evolves. He hopes everyone will enjoy what is to come from the “ONLY IF” series as I want this to be something anyone could reach for and say “that could happen to me.” Stay tuned! Three fun facts about him is: he live in NYC, has a vast horror movie collection and has a great appreciation for Enya.
