Meet An Author!

Writing Questions:

Why do you think readers are drawn to what you write?

I try to make my stories a journey, like a movie that you read. My goal is to immerse the reader in the story, tugging on all of their emotions, and make them feel as if they’re living the story too.

Why do you write?

I think in plot lines and characters; I’ve always done that, even when I was a kid. I’m also someone who doesn’t particularly like reality. I find if I listen to the news, it’s rather depressing. Writing, I get to create my own reality and I really enjoy the worlds I create because despite all the ups and downs, there’s always a happy ending and I’m a sucker for the happy ending.

Who inspires you?

May sound odd, but the characters do. Each takes on a life of their own and as their stories unfold, the more inspired I get.

Was being an author something you’ve always wanted to do?

Always. My dream has always been to roll out of bed, get the family off, and then grab a cup of coffee and head to my office to spend the day writing. The fact that I actually make a living from my dream is incredible.

Favorite place to write?

My office because I’ve filled it with mementos that represent the characters in my books…a painter’s palette clock for Logan and Lark, a cake plate with fake fancy cupcakes for Avery, typewriters for Ember, Mia’s crystal-encrusted platform pumps, etc.

What is your favorite book you’ve written? Why?

His Light in the Dark because I adore Cole Campbell. His life is hard and yet under his remote exterior is a heart of gold. And Mia complements him perfectly because she’s sweet and wears her heart on her sleeve, but more she sees Cole as he is and not how he perceives himself.

What elements around you, inspire you?

Music. Many writers write to music because music inspires. There are songs that make you want to dance and songs that make you want to cry. Tapping into the emotion stirred by music, at least for me, helps me really set the tone of a scene.

How often do you publish?

I try to publish three books a year.

Personal Questions:

Dream trip to go on someday?

Ireland. I want to see in real life the majesty I’ve seen in pictures.

Do you have a bucket list?

Yes

Christmas, it’s magical.

Do you have a favorite movie you watch over & over?

Star Wars, the original trilogy.

If you weren’t writing, what would you be doing?

Owning a little garden center or an on line shop specializing in cheesecake; I make a mean cheesecake.

What distracts you easily?

Gardening…creating colorful gardens that look wild.

Rogan is a tough actor, fighter and former military secret ops fighter. He has many secrets from his past that make him the man he his. He has a brother, Kyle, who carries some baggage around causing him to be spiteful and angry with life. Katie also has secrets, more like skeletons, that will come back to haunt her.

Katie is a make-up artist working on the set of a movie Rogan is filming. Every morning, Katie must make him more beautiful than he already is. She feels the spark between them but is very cautious to allow her self to “feel” or want anything more. She is protective of herself, after all, her past has been very cruel to her. Rogan is determined to get to know her better and thank goodness he doesn’t give up. But are the many, many demons between them too much for them to deal with? Not to mention Rogan could be the next marked man in his special ops group. Who holds all the cards making Rogan be a puppet to his needs?

This story was very interesting, a fresh topic and conflict, one that I don’t come across often. The characters were developed well, leaving me to want to know more and more as I read. Surprised at the climax of the special ops conflict. I enjoyed the resolution though. I appreciated Rogan’s determination and felt empathy for Katie’s suffering. I definitely felt many emotions in this book as the story came to a climax with the fighting and special ops story lines. I like how the chapters alternate between characters, I enjoy hearing both perspectives in a story. Nicely written, one I would recommend to others. Rogan and Katie’s story is a wonderful heartbreaking tale of determination and perseverance.

I hear a racy rumble come roaring down my street, getting louder as it approaches. My heart thunders along at a somewhat similar cadence, like the noise alone triggered my internal throttle. No, I don’t know that to be Rogan on his way to pick me up, but then again, yes, I absolutely do. Somehow it sounds like him. I’m already getting a mental picture, even though I’m still sitting on my couch. He told me he might show me what he chooses to drive. Something tells me he’s about to.

When the throbbing engine reaches its peak and then dies right outside, I leap up from my seat and run to the window. My insides twist and slither like a clutch of snakes when I see what’s parked outside. A black-and-silver machine, reading Ducati along the shiny gas tank, rests along the curb. And on its back is Rogan.

Even with his head covered by a matching helmet, I recognize him. I recognize his body and his body language. I recognize the way I respond to him. Even when I don’t want to.

He’s wearing a snug white T-shirt and ratty blue jeans. Nothing that would identify him. It’s the way he wears his clothes, the way the fabrics hug his lithe form, even the way he sits on the bike, like he is one with a wild, untamable animal, that is uniquely Rogan.

When he pulls off his helmet, I’m aware of two things. One, that his hair sticks up all over his head in blond spikes that make my fingers itch to touch. And two, that his eyes are on mine. All the way across the yard and through the sheer curtains that cover the glass of the window, they’re trained on mine. I can feel it. It’s like he knows I’m looking at him, like he can feel it, too. And that he honed in on it, on me. Instinctively. It sounds completely insane, but I don’t doubt it. This isn’t the first time I’ve felt him watching me. And it only gets more and more disconcerting.

For a few seconds, he just stares at me. He’s not smiling; he’s just straddling his bike, holding his helmet between his big, strong hands. The intensity of his gaze burns along my nerve ends, causing me to feel both terrified and excited all at once. It also makes me wonder why I agreed to this. I’m not entirely sure I can be trusted around him. He makes me forget. And that’s dangerous.

Finally, his face breaks into a breathtaking smile and I jump away from the window. I keep backing away until I’m safely ensconced in the shadows on the opposite side of the room. I pull in several gulps of air, fanning my flaming face with my nervous hands. I wait impatiently for the moment when he’ll knock and I’ll be face-to-face with what could end up being a nightmare for me.

But he could end up being a dream for you, too

Born and raised around Houston Texas, Jessica spent most of her life complaining about the heat, humidity, and all around pain in the ass weather. Author A.R. Torre’s Book Goes to the Big Screen ~ The Girl in 6E ~ @ReadAlessandra @TheNextStepPR #Erotic Suspense

It’s official… The Girl in 6E, the award-winning erotic suspense by New York Times Bestseller Alessandra Torre, will be made into a movie! Torre has signed a deal with EuropaCorp Inc. to shoot a full-length feature film of The Girl in 6E! EuropaCorp is the studio behind the Taken trilogy as well as Lucy and the Transporter movies. In addition to having a studio, contracts are already executed for Vertigo Entertainment (The Grudge, Poltergeist) to produce the movie, and a female writer has already begun writing the script.

Alessandra had calls this week with Vertigo Entertainment and Chloe King, the scriptwriter, and will be an Executive Producer on the film. She will not have creative or casting control but will keep readers and fans updated on the progress via Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Goodreads.

I write steamy romance about strong women and modern men. My storys can be provocative, they are sometimes sad, sometimes romantic. But they all end good. Promise.

I’m 33 and live in the western part of Germany. I have a masters degree in political sciences and before I decided to be a fulltime writer I worked for a political party. The love to write and the love to read are the two things, that my dad gave me. I started telling stories before I was even able to write them down.

But the thing is, I have never been able to finish them. I have a lot of beginnings, but after a short amount of pages, sometimes five, sometimes even fifty, I lost interest in the stories and I started anew. But then I started reading steamy romance and it felt, as if I have found my genre. From that moment on the words practically flew from my fingers and I was instantly hooked. And I don’t want to ever stop.
