I DID IT! I finished #NaBloPoMo

I took on this challenge back in October as my writing/author friends joined the #NaNoWriMo this month. We each had our own challenges. But they both involved writing and a commitment. I wasn’t sure I could do a blog post a day for a whole month and honestly, I didn’t but I did make thirty blog entries this month. So for that I am proud of myself for making the commitment and for finishing what I started.

My goal was to share more information about authors I love to read, and I have. I have shared author and book information as well as found new followers here on my blog. I need to now go and follow a bunch of friends that I haven’t had the time to go check out their blog pages.

Thank you for taking this ride with me. I am glad I did this.

The Power of “RT – Retweet” DO IT! #NaBloPoMo

If you are on Twitter you have power. Real power. It is easy. One button. That’s all it takes. One click. It is called the Retweet button. It is simple. Quick. It looks like this:

You are asking why this is such a big deal? Who cares about the retweet button?

If you are an Indie Author trying to spread the word about your new book release then you care.

And your followers should care too!

The life of a tweet, according to wishpond.com, is 18 minutes. It is hottest in the first seven minutes. Then it slowly loses it’s spark and sizzle. Soon it disappears. Gone. Never to be seen again most likely. So if your tweet wasn’t seen the first time it went out, it is lost. Right? This is where retweets are so important.

A few weeks ago, I did a post on my blog for the book release of an Indie Author. I made five different posts on my blog and each time, that post made a tweet on my Twitter account. I then went into my Hootesuite account and scheduled those tweets to post again 5 times each. So I posted my own tweets 25 times on the TL at various times during the day. What does that come down to? At that time I had 1048 followers who saw my 25 tweets so my tweets hit the TL 26,200 times or 26,200 different opportunities for that new book to be seen by someone who might not know the author. I couldn’t put The Submssive down when I finally started reading it. I couldn’t wait to read this book. I figured it was a continuation of the story. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it was Nathaniel’s POV (point of view) from the first book.

Nathaniel West doesn’t lose control.

This was a book I would look at on the shelves at Target each time I went to the store. I kept telling myself I would read it when I had more time. Then then the second book in the series came out, The Dominant, and then I really wanted to read the books. So I bought them and treated myself to the series since by the time I bought them all three books were available. So glad I did since I could not put them down. The Writing Process – As the Writer Writes… #NaBloPoMo

As I mentioned before, some friends are participating in the NaNoWriMo this month. One friend in particular, has given me the amazing privilege to read the work as she writes. I am more and more impressed as each chapter is written and the story unfolds. All the little details she inserts, the twists and turns the story takes and how real the characters are becoming. I am not sure who is having more fun, her or me? Except that she knows how this ends and I don’t and I am sitting here, not very patiently waiting for the next chapter. Waiting to see what “he” does and how “she” reacts…and if it is all a dream I will send myself in an email to the author and strangle her neck when she opens the email. No, just kidding. But I won’t be very happy. But in the end, the author is the author and it is their story to tell. And I am enjoying the growth of the author and the characters in the story. Thank you for taking me on your journey with you.

Summary:

The interview is loaded with very thoughtful questions about AJ Linn’s blog where his alter ego @FuckedUpFifty_ writes in Christian Grey’s POV with a sprinkle of AJ Linn mixed in. Then we learn about his books, The Gentleman’s Series, and finally his personal life, whatever he wanted to share. We have come to respect this man and are lucky to know what we know about this amazing author. I found the rapid-fire questions intriguing as well. The interview was exciting to read.
